Pete Lumber has been nominated for the Newbury Town Council Business Civic Award and awarded a High Sherriff Award for the Royal County of Berkshire.

This is in recognition of Pete stepping up to support local communities throughout the pandemic.

“The judges were very impressed by the extent of your service to supporting your local area and giving back to others in the community” said Elisa Adams, Civic Manager for Newbury Town Council.

With hand-sanitiser in short supply for local emergency services, care-homes, GPs/hospitals, and other vital services, 137 Gin quickly got to producing and distributing WHO-approved hand-sanitiser for the local community, free of charge.

“What an incredible experience the last year has been. I could not have done it all without the help of gin blogger and friend Debbie Burgess. We have had incredible support and even got to meet and make sanitizer with BBC’s Ross Kemp. I am incredibly grateful for the donations we received and enormously proud of the work we have done – it is a real honour to be recognised. Thank you to everybody in Newbury”. Pete Lumber, founder and master distiller for 137 Gin.
